Earth System Science is a graduate course that incorporates the development of Problem Based Learning (PBL) modules focused on the water cycle, the environmental stewardship of the Chesapeake Bay and Virginia’s watersheds. The year long course (2007-2008) is offered to Portsmouth City Public School teachers by Hampton University and funded by SCHEV.
Shana Deans here. Born and raised in New Bern, NC. I attended NC State University with a major in Middle School Math and Science. After college, I was a Supply Corps Officer in the US Navy for four years, serving on the USS IWO JIMA (LHD-7) and at Joint Forces Intelligence Command. I then joined Portsmouth Public Schools in August of 2004, teaching 6th grade science my first year and seventh grade science my 2nd and third year, all at W.E. Waters Middle School. I am currently a teacher at Starbase Victory Science Center and enjoying every minute of it. I also have my M. Ed. in Instructional Technology from AIU Online.
