Earth System Science is a graduate course that incorporates the development of Problem Based Learning (PBL) modules focused on the water cycle, the environmental stewardship of the Chesapeake Bay and Virginia’s watersheds. The year long course (2007-2008) is offered to Portsmouth City Public School teachers by Hampton University and funded by SCHEV.
Mark received his BS and MS degrees Geology and Geophysics at Old Dominion University completing his academic work in 1979. Mark spent the majority of his professional career as an Exploration Geophysicist with several major oil companies. He has taught for Portsmouth Public Schools for seven years with concentrations in Earth Science, Oceanography and Geospatial Technology.
